There are a couple ways to unlock an article:
- Send a locked article as “unlocked” with a modified URL
- Remove the locked form from an article permanently
Link a locked article as “unlocked”
Whenever a new subscriber submits their email in a locked form, a cookie is stored in their browser to prevent the locked form from appearing on any other articles that they access from the same device. However, there may be instances when you want your content to be “locked” for an audience in one marketing channel (like paid Facebook promotions), but “unlocked” for any audience on another marketing channel (like an email newsletter).
If you wish to “unlock” a locked article for a specific audience, you can adjust the url by adding the following text to the end of the original URL: ?utm_content=unlocked
E.g. The url “https://getmatcha.com/blog/how-to-get-started-email-marketing-ecommerce-store” would simply need to be changed to “https://getmatcha.com/blog/how-to-get-started-email-marketing-ecommerce-store?utm_content=unlocked”
Anyone who clicks on this modified URL will see the article without a locked form on it!
Permanently remove a locked form from an article
If you notice that an article is no longer capturing emails in the locked form, it may be time to remove the locked form and lock another article instead. Once you follow these steps, a locked form will no longer appear on the article:
- Navigate to My Content.
- Click ‘Locked’ to view a list of your locked articles.
- Click on the article you would like to unlock.
- Press the unlock toggle.
A locked form will no longer appear on the article to anyone who views the page.
