What is Locked Content?
And why your business needs it.
Locked content is a type of conversion tool where the visitor is prompted to enter their email address before being able to read an article.
Why Matcha Recommends Locked Content:
At Matcha we believe you should leverage content to drive efficient traffic to your site which should ultimately result in meaningful lead conversions month over month. One of the best ways to acquire inexpensive leads is to leverage locked content on a few blog pieces every month. Remembering that, yes, it is a more direct ask, but ultimately you’re trading relevant content for an email with the goal of building your business.
Locked content is a direct and competitive conversion tool that drives costs at around $1-$2/lead. It can be optimized for traffic at as low as $150/month (FB passthrough) and still yield strong lead gen results.
Locked Content Frequently Asked Questions
How much locking should I do?
We don't recommend you lock all your content. Only 1-2 articles as you're promoting and focused on building your email list.
What does my content visitor see?
The locked form lets visitors know they are signing up for your newsletter and product updates, so the user is showing intent and interest in your brand by unlocking the content.
I’m personally not a fan of locked content.
Think of it this way, a popup is disruptive too. Less disruptive than locked content but also converts less. Leadgen marketing is essentially trading disruption for conversion. This is the most disruptive but also the most performant. Our customers use locked content to competitively and efficiently build their email lists. Less disruptive means less efficient.
